M8: ARQUE.
During the eighth and final module of Creative Technology, we get the opportunity to work in quite large teams of 11 students to work on a large data visualisation installation. The Hybrid Worlds Project combines almost all of the skills that you have learned during your first two years as a Creative Technology student. This includes data visualisation, data analysis, prototyping, animation, programming, tinkering, testing and as I like to call it: 'gewoon beunen'.
The topic my group and I chose to visualize is the waste that is produced by the (fast) fashion industry. The experience starts as if you are shopping in a regular clothing store you would find in any city. As you scan a piece of clothing at the cash register, you are instructed to walk across the installation to see your impact on the world. The data on exported fashion waste per year of the country of purchase is then visualized using a 'pile of clothes' which rises up and down and to add a shocking element, there is a set amount of smoke per tonne being blown in your face. The system works using a network of 6 ESP's and some python scripts running on a laptop. The results of our installation can be found below:

M6 SLHAY
During module 6, my friends Céline, Jelle, Julia, Victor and me have worked on a tool to make studying easier for students
who suffer from ADD or ADHD. The design consists of a chair with fidgets, a biking mechanism and much more.
The best way to be introduced to this project is to watch the video below:

M5 Interactive Media
In module 5, the focus lied on game design and 3d modelling, Ashley and I made a game called 'Chrome Heights', revolving around a fictional chararacter named Arlo, who is a music producer. The game is highly inspired by the chrometype aesthetic and based on the music that we composed ourselves. Below are some close up renders from assets made for the game and the whole gameplay video can be found here.

M4 S.I.Z.E.
In module 4, we had the project called 'have fun and play' and we made an art installation. Our installation consists of a lasercut pole with 11 monitors attached to it using self-designed VESA mounts. Every screen has its own content and we use 2 PC's and 3 laptops to stream the videos. When rolling a polarizing filter, some videos will be revealed, some hidden and some will be shown either way. This way we can change the way the information is perceived. The message behind the installation is that we should be aware of big data companies who can easily overthrow the standing order in society.
A short video about this project can be found here.

Super EM kit
For the third module, we have been working on the Super EM kit. A kit with which we can make radiation visible. Together with our client Barry Fitzgerald, who is a science communicator, we developed a kit which will be the base for a superhero suit during his lectures. The installation consists of 4 sensors, that are connected to a raspberry pi, which displays the outputs on a screen on the front. render

Blender model
For the end assignment for the module 3 subject interactive visualistion, I decided to model my room in detail in blender.
The model is not very detailed yet but I am planning on making it more detailed and use it for a game of some sort.

Sketching end results
In module 2, we had the subject sketching, here are some sketches I made:

PPC end assignment
For the subject of programming and physical computing, we had to solve a problem using an arduino, some sensors and some actuators. The problem we chose was when you put beer in the fridge, you don't know what temperature it is. The idea of this project was to put a sample beer with a sensor in the fridge together with the rest of the beers to see what temperature the rest is. We made a device with two temperature sensors, two pot meters, a servo and an LED strip. The temperature was also printed to a processing sketch on a pc. The LED strip shows a different animation for every different temperature gap and the servo pointed at a place on the scale at the front of the device. inital prototypefinal prototype
